The Travaglini 2014 Gattinara Tre Vigne (packaged in that trademark bottle with all sorts of curves on its flanks) sees a careful assembly of fruit from three historic vineyard sites characterized by the reddish, iron-rich soils that you find in the Gattinara appellation. This wine is very expressive or reflective of the house style. It reveals a beautiful array of aromas from pressed rose and violet to rusted nail or crushed rock. This vintage is a little lighter and more fragile compared to warmer years, but the focused elegance you get here would match cotoletta alla milanese (breaded veal cutlet). I am suggesting a near or medium-term drinking window for this vintage. Some 23,000 cases (with six bottles each) were released.
