As in previous vintages, I found the notes of ink, leather, tempera paint and graphite too strong in the nose of the 2011 Adoremus, and they were too much, simply too overpowering. The palate is dry, with fruit that is receding. Consistent with other years, which might mean that something is going on in the winery. 6,000 bottles.

The 2011 Vega Sauco Adoremus comes from 50- to 100-year-old vines and is matured in 50% new French and American oak. It has a gamey, slightly bretty bouquet that is nevertheless nicely defined and has personality. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly metallic entry. High-toned dark cherry fruit informs the middle and finish, but there is a lack of persistency and weight overall. Drink now-2015.
