Normally one of the more reliable bottlings in the Vidal Fleury stable, the 2020 Vacqueyras—a 70-30 blend of Grenache and Syrah—delivers attractive notions of blackberries and blueberries on the nose. It's medium to full-bodied, creamy and lush, with a touch of licorice on the finish. It should drink well on release and for the next five years or so.

The 2019 Vacqueyras offers enough minty and resinous notes atop its cherry fruit to come across as rather medicinal in nature. It's medium to full-bodied, shot through with green streaks and marked by drying tannins on the finish.

Reasonably supple and charming, the 2018 Vacqueyras is a blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre. Mouthwatering red-berry flavors dominate this easygoing effort. Medium to full-bodied, it's plump across the mid-palate, finishing on notes of peppery spice.

Another winner is the deep purple-colored 2015 Vacqueyras. Revealing loads of kirsch, black raspberry fruits and Asian spices, this beauty is medium-bodied, rich and textured, with no hard edges and notable purity. Drink it anytime over the coming 5-7 years.
