The 2007 Fra Guerau is a blend of Garnacha, Syrah, and Merlot aged for 12 months in new French and American oak. It gives up an enticing nose of red and black fruits, spice box, lavender, and mineral notes leading to a supple, relatively plush, easy-going wine that can be enjoyed over the next 6-8 years. It is a very good value.Fra Guerau is a large estate of 104 acres planted to 7 different varietals including the traditional grapes of Montsant, Garnacha, Carinena, and Syrah but the vines are only 7-19 years old at this point.Importer: Freixenet USA; www.freixenetusa.com
