The 2007 Veran is made up of 55% Mantonegro, 25% Syrah, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 13 months in 65% new, mostly French oak. Aromas of cocoa, mineral, Asian spices, lavender, and blackberry lead to an already complex, layered wine with a sense of elegance. Long and nicely proportioned, it is likely to evolve for 2-3 years but can be approached now. Vinicola Binigual's two brilliant efforts come from the obscure (for wine) region of Mallorca with the focus on the indigenous Mantonegro grape.
