The 2010 Furvus, a blend of 80% Garnacha and the rest Merlot, is a good combination of Mediterranean and Atlantic characters with notes of cassis, ripe plums, esparto grass and raspberry leaf aromas, while the palate feels very spicy with soil-driven flavors and texture and a long aftertaste where a note of faint violets develops slowly. A tasty red. Drink 2014-2018.
Vinyes Domenech is one of the up-and-coming new names of Montsant. The company is named after its organically farmed, 15-hectare property and is quite ecological-minded, as 90% of electricity used is from renewable sources and all their water comes from rain and other natural sources. Of course, all this would be just an anecdote if their wines were not very good. The vineyards are spread in different terraces (bancales) where the predominant soil is argilo-calcareous.
