The 2005 Petit Verdot was aged for 12 months in new French oak hogsheads. Opaque purple colored, it exhibits notes of toasty oak, spice, pepper, violets, cassis and blackberry. This leads to a full-bodied, opulent, layered, intensely flavored wine with well concealed tannins and excellent balance. Give it 6-8 years in the cellar and drink it through 2030. Fruit flavors on the palate are focused and at the forefront; oak intervention is minimal but for a brambly, black-peppery accent.
