The 2017 Pinot Noir Siefersheim is lost in a big Burgundy glass such as the Zalto, but in a smaller universal glass, it reveals nice reduction and sour cherry on the nose and palate. Coming from the skeletal, very stony sand, gravel and loamy soils with porphyry in the underground and aged in barriques, this is a toasty, silky-textured, intensely fruity and well-structured yet finessed and refreshing Pinot Noir with firm tannins on the intense and well-concentrated, fresh and fruity yet still youthful and toasty finish. If you keep it a year or two, this will be an excellent gastronomic Pinot—or officially, Siefersheimer Sp?tburgunder trocken. Tasted in April 2020.
