A 2005 Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Auslese A. P. #11 was this year’s last-harvested wine, and its 9.5% alcohol testifies to the enormous ripeness of raw material. Ripe apple and honey aromas lead into a creamy, soft, honeyed, apple-jelly and peach preserve-dominated palate and a soothingly rich and long finish where notes of licorice and wet stone add interest. This impressively rich wine is seamless, but smooth and rounded almost to a fault. (That was even more the case with this year’s Juffer-Sonnenuhr Auslese A.P. #8.)
