The 2009 QUINTA DE BONS-VENTOS is a blend of Castelao (50%), Camarate (20%), Tinta Miuda (15%) and Touriga Nacional (15%). Even by Portuguese standards, most will find that to be an unfamiliar blend. It works pretty well. A bit better structured than the winery’s “Lab” reviewed this issue, it is more likely to find wide appeal as it is a bit more traditional and straightforward. It has a “real wine” feel to it, and in this price range it offers some value and a little earthy charm. It is not particularly concentrated and will decline rapidly, so as with the Lab, drink up—it will always be at its best when freshest. Drink now-2013. Importers: Tri-Vin Imports, Mt.
