The Panizzi 2018 Vernaccia di San Gimignano Vigna Santa Margherita is fermented in both stainless steel and neutral barrique. Fruit comes from the estate's historic vineyard with vines in tufo soils that are 40 years old or more. This is another benchmark wine from San Gimignano that shows a fresh and zesty personality now but also the textural weight to continue its bottle evolution for five years or longer. Pretty mineral notes of brimstone and gravel appear on the close. The first vintage made was 2003, and today 16,000 are produced annually. This is a terrific value.

This is a luminous and brilliant white wine. The 2015 Vernaccia di San Gimignano Vigna Santa Margherita is laced with subtle notes of garden herb and basil leaf. Otherwise, the wine is redolent of peach, kiwi, honeydew melon and a distant touch of spicy saffron. It feels light and fresh in the mouth. The wine is partially fermented in neutral oak (50% of the volume), with the other half in stainless steel.

Panizzi's 2012 Vernaccia di San Gimignano Vigna Santa Margherita shows a good level of natural richness with tropical fruit followed by apricot, peach and yellow rose. The wine reveals thicker textural richness compared to its peers and a great level of flavor intensity. Fruit is sourced from the Santa Margherita vineyard (100% Vernaccia) and is fermented in equal parts oak barrel and stainless steel. It see a six-month aging period.
