The 2011 Treyu has a simple bouquet with light apple blossom and pear aromas that remain delicate and a little bashful. The palate is well-balanced with fresh apple and pear on the entry, although it needs more complexity and refinement towards the finish that cuts away too quickly. Drink now-2015. Oliver Conti’s white wines begin with the 2009 Treyu, a blend of equal parts Gewurztraminer and Macabeu aged 4 months in new French oak. Exotic aromas of baking spices, pear, melon, and lychee inform the nose of this smooth-textured offering. In the glass there is almost no trace of oak with the wine’s spiciness hitting the high notes. This savory, dry, nicely proportioned white will provide pleasure over the next 2-3 years.
