Although none of Steele's Pinot Noirs were outstanding, they are all well-made, juicy, straightforward wines that need to be drunk over the next 4-5 years. The 1995 Pinot Noir Carneros displays a light ruby color that appears frail. The nose offers up attractive tomato, cherry, and toasty aromas. The wine reveals far more fruit and style than suggested by the weak color. There is plenty of soft berry fruit, herbs, smoke, and spice. This is the most forward and tannic of the Steele Pinot Noirs, and because of that, it is best drunk over the next 2-3 years.Tel. (707) 279-9475
