Daniel and Martine Barraud's 2001 Pouilly-Fuisse Les Crays Vieilles Vignes is magnificent. Its nose reveals great purity and aromatic depth, displaying an abundance of mineral and limestone scents. Plump, soft, and expansive, this wine's texture is reminiscent of goose down. Loads of white flowers and liquid stones are found throughout this gem's flavor profile as well as in its extensive finish. For those of you with vivid imaginations, Peter Vezan, the Barrauds' Paris-based broker, described this wine as "a wild whore, tamed by the Barrauds." Drink it over the next 8-10 years.
