There are a couple of hundred liters of 2004 Bernkasteler Bratenhofchen Riesling Eiswein, which exhibits a musky, briny, smoky, faintly prickly aroma indicating that both botrytis and frost were in play. Honey, lemon candy, butterscotch, fresh grapefruit, and black cherry syrup on the palate lead to a finish at once edgy in its nervosity and acidity and candied in its expression of obvious sweetness. Given its undeniable concentration, this thickly-dense wine needs a few months in bottle and then a reassessment.Importer: Terry Theise Estate Selections, imported by Michael Skurnik Wines, Inc., Syosset, NY; tel.
