From younger vines in the Marienburg, Busch's 2014 Riesling Trocken Vom Grauen Schiefer was picked in the first part of the harvest because the grapes from young vines tend to rot more quickly than those from older vines. The wine has a nice pale to medium intense yellow color and offers a ripe and juicy Riesling fruit, intertwined with pineapple flavors and slate aromas on the nose. Medium-bodied and round on the palate, quite intense and round in its juiciness, this is a well concentrated and persistent Riesling with a serious, nicely mineral and stimulatingly piquant and salty finish. Very good. This is a seriously good wine with 11.5% alcohol but a good body.
