The 2008 Montefalco Rosso is a touch firmer than the 2009. It reveals harmonious layers of dark fruit behind an inward personality that requires further cellaring before showing all of its cards. The 2008 isn't quite as sleek as the 2009, but may have a bit more character. It will be interesting to see how both vintages age. The Rosso is 70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino and 15% Merlot. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018.
Marco Caprai continues to set the standard for contemporary wines in Montefalco.
