Here is another instance where growers and importer have evidently conspired, as the listed retail for Regis Minet’s 2007 Pouilly-Fume Vieilles Vignes dropped by 20% over the previous vintage, and believe me, both represent successes for such challenging growing seasons, not to mention good value. Mint, pennyroyal, and a hint of just plain grass share the nose with lemon and gooseberry. On the palate, this effort is notable for achieving a sense of lift and delicacy, mouth-watering acidity, and saline, wet stone, and smoky mineral sensations, all of which make the best of marginally ripe fruit. The finish is clean, penetrating, and guaranteed to revive even the most sluggish or jaded palate. Put this to work in the right circumstances and it will reward you well over the next couple of years.Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel (510) 524-1524
