The 2010 "Escolha" Vinho Verde is a blend of 50% Arinto, the rest equally divided between Trajadura and Loureiro. Quite charming this year, it is light in the mid-palate, focused, fresh and fruity. The acidity, fruit and sugar mingle well, giving it a sort of German Kabinett demeanor. The main impression is of a fruity wine with bright acidity, a hint of lemon on the finish. It was hard to resist. It should be great this Summer. When I saw it, there was not much spritz. NOTE: This is from Quinta de Soutelos, which has its own branded Vinho Verde separately reviewed this issue. The blends are a bit different and this Azul Portugal version has natural gas and a bit more sugar (10.7 RS vs. 7.8). Drink now. This Azul Portugal brand is from Wines and Winemakers by Saven, which acts an umbrella brand for the efforts of various wineries in different regions who also produce wine, usually with different blends or vinification methods, under their own labels.
