The Villages wine is good, a little stern and unyielding, but well made. Since 1978, Robert Chevillon has unquestionably established his domaine as one of the very finest in the Cote d'Or. If one were to judge the entire 1983 vintage on the basis of his wines, then all the hoopla and hype would have been justified. His 1983s are excellent, and among the very finest and best-balanced wines of this notoriously overrated vintage.
