A relatively new viticultural region north of Clare Valley (making it the most northerly wine producing area of South Australia) is Baroota. Hazyblur's 2000 Shiraz Baroota (350 cases) is a powerful, extracted, muscular effort with great intensity as well as palate presence. It reveals huge richness, moderately high tannin, and elevated alcohol (15%). Nevertheless, there are immense reserves of fruit, glycerin, and density in this long, promising Shiraz.
