While the special cuvees here get all the attention, the straight estate releases always over-deliver, and the 2013 Syrah Estate looks to continue that trend. Exhibiting the classic Syrah dark berry fruit, violets, pepper and wild herb aromas and flavors, it’s full-bodied, layered and seamless, with a hard-to-resist personality. It should drink nicely on release and evolve through 2023. As always, I had a great visit with winemaker Anthony Yount. The wines continue to go from strength to strength, and at this point, are a match for anything coming out of the west side of Paso Robles. These are high-quality wines that merit attention. Tel.
