Well, I finally got to taste the $135 dollar screw cap Plumpjack 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (300 cases produced). Interestingly, they have priced the cork-finished bottle at $125. Oh well. A full-bodied, relatively tannic 1997 with a backward style, it exhibits a dense plum/purple color as well as mineral, black currant, floral, earth, and spicy new oak aromas and flavors. This muscular, large-scaled Cabernet Sauvignon requires 4-5 years of cellaring. It should last for two decades, assuming they know what they are doing with the screw cap. Tel.
