The 2009 Gran Reserva Limited Edition is a wine that was first produced, almost privately, and for some export markets in 2003, 2005 and 2007. It is a wine that was designed to cover the gap between the Reserva and the Castillo de Ygay in the portfolio. 2009 is a very ripe vintage that seems to have taken the toasty aromas from the oak, where it matured. It shows some aromas of Mediterranean herbs, even hints of esparto grass, ripe blackberries and plenty of spices, a twist of vanilla and coconut, developing balsamic aromas of cigar ash and incense with time. 32,194 numbered bottles were filled in November 2012.
