Readers looking for more wood should check out Castello di Luzzano’s 1999 Gutturnio Riserva Romeo. It boasts fine ripeness, a deep ruby/purple color, plenty of body, excellent texture, and aromas and flavors of black currants and cherries. It is a decidedly earthier, fuller-styled, more muscular effort than the 2002 Bonarda. Drink the Gotturnio over the next 2-3 years.
