Herbal (stems?) notes are interspersed with black cherries in the nose of the ruby-colored 2000 Pinot Noir West Block Reserve. Its expressive core of fruit is composed of assorted black berries intermingled with spices. Medium-bodied, broad, and tannic, it has excellent power as well as length. The smoky, bacon-filled nose also offers black cherry, vanilla and a chalky dustiness. The powerful raspberry character in the mouth is driven by healthy acidity.
