Chapoutier makes no bones about the fact that he prefers his 1996 Cote Roties to his 1995s. The 1995 Cote Rotie is less expressive than the 1996, with high acidity, but excellent olive, Provencal herb, black raspberry, and cassis fruit. Medium-bodied, dense, and backward, this wine requires at least 5-7 years of cellaring. Although good, it is closed.
