Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, the 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Saint Marc from Olivier Leflaive has a steely, very focused and mineral-driven bouquet that displays admirable intensity. The palate is vibrant on the entry with just the right amount of sour lemon, commendable depth and a tensile, focused and surprisingly spicy finish. This is an excellent Chassagne-Montrachet, and if anything, it appeared to gain more and more energy in the glass.
