Chapoutier's red wines from the 1991 vintage in the southern Rhone have turned out better than one might expect given the difficulties this vintage posed. The 1991 Cotes du Rhone Villages-Rasteau is a darker-colored wine, with more power and concentration than the 1991 Cotes du Rhone-Belle Ruche, as well as a soft, fleshy finish. This wine should be drunk over the next 2-3 years.
