The 2005 Vacqueyras Vieux Clocher is a blend of 70% Grenache, 25% Syrah, and 5% Mourvedre, most of which spent 12 months in foudre. About 25% of the blend was aged in small casks. The wine possesses a dark ruby/purple color, very good acidity as well as plenty of earthy, licorice, black cherry, and plum-like fruit, and attractive sweet tannins. It should drink nicely for 7-8 years.
