The 2007 Alma de Reboreda is the first vino tostado I have encountered from Campante, even though they have been producing it for a while. It is produced exclusively from Treixadura grapes that are left to dehydrate for some three months after being picked. It results in a sweet wine with 175 grams of residual sugar, which is aged in French barrique for no less than 10 months and spends two years in contact with the lees. It has the hazelnut, volatile touch and all the aromatics the best tostados show, intermixed with hints of apricot, marmalade and quince paste. The palate is quite sweet with a finish that reminds me of burnt sugar. With a little more freshness it would be phenomenal. 900 half bottles were filled in March 2015.
