The 1994 and 1995 Crozes-Hermitage blanc (90% Marsanne/10% Roussanne) exhibit solid, stony, pineapple-like fruit, medium body, and good, clean winemaking with low but adequate acidity.
The difficult vintages of 1992 and 1993 have been followed by two very good Rhone Valley vintages. Sorrel has several cuvees of Crozes-Hermitage made from a relatively young vineyard. Although the Marsanne vines are 50 years old, the Syrah vines are less than a decade old. Both the red and white wines should be drunk within its first 3-4 years of the vintage.
For whatever reason, the wines of Marc Sorrel have remained undervalued, and to a large extent, ignored in the American marketplace. The numerous importer changes he has endured have only exacerbated the problem of finding Sorrel's wines.
