The 2014 Parcela única, a selection from a particular plot that Mendes thinks always excels, is all Alvarinho, aged for nine months in new, light-toast French oak. It comes in at 13% alcohol. Elegant, fresh and in perfect control of its oak, this specialty wine is in fine form this year. I'm not sure it is the most concentrated vintage for it, but everything else is exceptional. Its fruit is expressive and flavorful, with fine acidity lashing it into the palate. Its balance is perfect. This is pretty terrific. There were 3, 000 bottles produced.
