The 2006 Montepulciano d’Abbruzzo Zanna impresses for the depth of its fruit. Everything come together beautifully in this vibrant, dark Montepulciano. Succulent cherries, violets, spices, new leather and minerals are some of the nuances that emerge from the glass. Ideally the wine is best cellared for another year or two, which should allow for the oak to integrate a touch more. Zanna is an old-vines selection aged in both Slavonian casks and French oak barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.
