Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Pucelles from Olivier Leflaive has a very refined and delineated bouquet, the new oak present but nicely embroidered into the citrus fruit and underlying mineral notes. The palate is fresh and crisp, quite assertive and spicy, hints of curry leaves towards the finish that is very complex. This is feistier than its counterpart from Anne-Claude Leflaive, less composed and not quite as much finesse. However there is so much going here that it keeps drawing you in.

A rich and ripe white with cooked apple, pie crust and dried pineapple. Full body, lovely fruit and a long and intense finish. A "drink me" wine. Upfront and sexy. Made from organically grown grapes and from vineyards owned by Domaine Leflaive. Drink or hold.

Rich and spicy, this white exudes lemon and apple flavors, a touch of flowers. Vibrant and lean, with excellent length. Should be better in a year. Best from 2015 through 2023. 30 cases imported.

A tiny whiff of sulphur on the nose, then great layers of depth and texture. Charming and grand and expressive. Encapsulates the spirit of burgundy with wonderful clarity of fruit, lightly chewy texture and a long, mineral finish.

Intense fruit shines through the toast and youthful acidity of this opulent wine. A generous structure will develop in concentration, bringing out the rich apricot and pear flavors. This is a grand wine, waiting to age. Drink from 2018.
