The 2001 Barbera d’Alba Marun confirms its status as a leading Barbera in its zone. An impenetrable ruby, its sweet and jammy plum and blackberry nose, lavishly endowed with spicy oak, is followed by full and elegant flavors, mineral, chocolaty, and with fine charred notes from the toasted oak. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2009.
The Correggia family is fortunately back at work after the tragic death of Matteo Corregia in a freak tractor accident, operating with an in-house oenologist and the outside assistance of Giorgio Rivetti. The wines remain among the most important of the Roero, the zone just across the Tanaro river from Barolo.
