The 2006 Nero d’Avola Nerobaronj emerges from the glass with compelling, exotic inner perfume in its super-ripe red cherries, black currants, chocolate, flowers, spices and licorice. Soft and succulent throughout, the Nerobaronj impresses for its superb balance and round, harmonious finish. This is a magnificent Nero d’Avola from Gulfi. The super-ripe style is vaguely Amarone-like and it is breathtaking. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2026. Gulfi is one of my go-to producers for fine Nero d’Avola.
