Aged one year in barrique, the 2010 Bolgheri Rosso Mosaico is a blend of Merlot (50%), Cabernet Franc (35%) and Petit Verdot. It opens with a dark, midnight color and super- ripe aromas of tar, blackberry jam, licorice, bitter chocolate, rum cake and dark teriyaki. It is a huge, beefy red wine that seems to have absorbed all the warm sunshine of coastal Tuscany. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020. Fattoria Casa di Terra is an under-the-radar estate (with 24 hectares of vine) that should gain new visibility now that its state-of-the-art winery has been completed.
