The medium to dark ruby-colored 1998 Merlot, from the Pepper Bridge and Spring Valley vineyards, was produced from a blend of Merlot (92%), Cabernet Franc (6 %), and Cabernet Sauvignon (2%). Only 850 cases were produced. It exhibits sweet cherry, violet, and hints of cookie dough in its spicy aromatics. Medium-bodied and silky-textured, this is a concentrated, firmly structured, blackberry and cassis-flavored wine. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2006.
