The 2009 Planots is from a single vineyard “Mas d’en Cacador” and is an equal blend of Garnacha and Carinena aged for 16 months in new French oak. It has a very oaky bouquet that makes it difficult to discern the terroir through its port-like dark fruit. The palate is full-bodied with very good weight but counterbalanced by fine acidity. It has touches of raisin towards the finish, which needs more freshness and clarity, lest it becomes tiring to drink in modest quantity. Drink 2014-2020.
The Sangenis family is one of the oldest grape-growing families in Priorat, although until 1995 they sold their entire production to the local co-op.
