Last Tasted 9/92
Although this offering would benefit from another 2-4 years of cellaring, it is already a terrific example of just what heights the Nebbiolo grape can achieve. The huge, smoky, leathery, black-cherry and truffle-scented nose is followed by a majestic Barolo with an expansive, broad-shouldered, rich palate, decent acidity, and a stunningly long, flashy finish. Sandrone, one of the least-known Piedmont stars, has produced a spectacular Barolo for drinking over the next 10-15 years.
