The 2003 Cotes du Rhone Caesar (produced from 100% old vine Grenache aged 18 months in oak) was bottled without fining or filtration. A limited cuvee (3,000 bottles), its deep ruby color is accompanied by aromas of violets, sweet kirsch, and currants. Dry, astringent tannin is noticeable on the palate. This medium-bodied 2003 possesses plenty of stuffing, but a certain austerity and angularity make it hard to predict in what direction it will go.Importer: Peter Weygandt, Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, PA; tel.
