The 2002 Crianza was fermented in tank followed by 15 months in French oak. It is medium ruby in color with aromas of cedar, spice, and red currants. It is medium bodied with well integrated tannin and flavors of cherry, blackberry, and a touch of vanilla. A very good value, and a fine achievement considering that 2002 was no more than an average vintage, this Rioja will drink well for another 4-6 years. Importer: W.J. Red cherry, cough drop and a touch of mushroom work the nose, while in the mouth it’s crisp and pointed, with light red fruit and citrus-influenced flavors. A lean, lithe wine very much in the pie cherry realm.——M.S.(9/1/2007)—— 84
