The first bottle of the 2013 Prior I tasted felt really advanced and oxidized, so I opened a second one, which was a completely different story. The wine has some of the grapes from their higher-altitude vineyards on clay and chalk soils mixed with grapes from the lower-altitude ones on slate. The powerful but balanced palate offers a good combination of both the minerality and the typicity of Priorat. It opens with aromas of flowers, slate, chalk and some spicy notes that highlight the bright acidity of the 2013 vintage. It is very good value too. 40,000 bottles.
