The 2005 Chardonnay was barrel-fermented and aged sur lie for 10 months in 60% new French oak. It is light gold-colored with an attractive nose of toasty oak, baked apple, poached pear, white peach and hazel nuts. Ripe and already exhibiting some complexity, this well-balanced, lengthy effort will drink well for another 4-5 years. Tranche Cellars is the alternate label used by Corliss Estates for their white wines.Tel. (509) 526-4400; www.corlissestates.com
