Green lentils, marjoram, and white pepper in the nose signal the nutty richness, smoky pungency and incisive invigoration that arrive on a palate juicy and crunchy in its evocation of turnip and raw salad turnip. Hints of shrimp shell-like, iodine-tinged sweet salinity lend intrigue and saliva-inducement to a refreshingly-sustained finish, and 12% alcohol permits of welcome buoyancy. Once again, it’s hard to ask for more from an intro-level Grüner Veltliner than Ehmoser delivers.
