Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux tasting. The 2012 Laroze put in a much better performance than I expected. It has a very composed bouquet, the new oak here deftly integrated, pure black and red fruit, a subtle undergrowth scent that becomes more accentuated with time. The palate is well balanced, quite classic in style. There is plenty of fruit here, more than it demonstrated out of barrel, but it is controlled, quite spicy, and gently fans out towards the very satisfying finish. This appears to have blossomed in bottle. Tasted January 2016.
