The 2013 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Il Picchio shows bright acidity and vibrant freshness with wild berry, cherry, blue flowers and Indian spice. This is a very beautiful rendition made with 95% Sangiovese and 5% Colorino and Canaiolo, all aged in barrique for 12 months. Some 20,000 bottles are produced. This vintage presents especially elegant results with fine tannins and clean fruit intensity. The quality of the primary aromas give good reason to bet on its future evolution.
