With sharp, redcurrant fruit and bramble, along with some rosemary essence or lavender oil, the 2018 Montefalco Rosso seems a bit thin and thorny in this vintage, but with a nice touch of white pepper. The snappy acidity makes this blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Sagrantino a good match for a fatty dish with plenty of pancetta or guanciale. This was an ample production of 100,000 bottles.
