The 1975 Sassicaia is distinguished by the intensity and purity of its color, and overall appearance in the glass. Considering the age of the wine, it is quite remarkable. On the nose, the wine shows evolved tones of dried fruit, candied apricot, licorice, tar, campfire smoke and sweet plum cake. Those aromas have completely transitioned into the tertiary domain. The wine probably has a few good years left, but it is coming to the far end of its already generously extended drinking window.
